Salida del Sol is the new release of Berlin based project Dubdiver and his mastermind Stefan Korn and adds a Balearic feeling to Dubdiver‘s sonic palette.
Salida del Sol brings tribal percussion fills, bubbling bass lines, analogue synth pads and even an aria of a classical opera- all combined to create a relaxing dance floor experience with groove as the centerpiece.
The album is inspired by the Mediterranean light and moments spent by the sea and is dedicated to the wonders of the rising morning: Every new day is a magic invitation to celebrate Life!
Salida del Sol continues Dubdiver‘s concept to present musical ideas in different styles, this time with a Chill House feel:
Porta Rossa is the Salida-del-Sol-mix of O Mio Babbino Caro, an aria written by Giaccomo Puccini. Dubdiver’s Ambient vision of one of the most successful arias in opera music was released on the album The Endless Blue.
With Porta Rossa singer and long-time companion Anja Oehming again joins Dubdiver, this time lending her classical trained voice for the groovy Salida-del-Sol-mix.
Kalypso is the Salida-del-Sol-Mix of La Ninfa which was released on Dubdiver‘s album Box of Secrets. It features Arndt Bethke on guitar.
Madrugada is pt 2 of Dubdiver‘s track Night Creatures that has been featured in a video about Ibiza nightlife in the Global Vision series of culture clips for German TV ZDF.
Garamut Galore is the Salida-del-Sol-mix of Little Logboat, a track that has also been featured in the Global Vision series about Papua-New Guinea.

his “Berlin-Springtime-Mix” of the song "Kish-Mish" for Usbekistan singer, DJ and producer Alfida reached the iTunes-Charts. Korn again wrote music for German TV’s series of culture-clips “Global Vision” this time featuring the sounds of Bhutan and Papua-Newguinea.
Futhermore Korn joined the “24 Loops” remix-competition, recreating the 3rd Movement of Dvorack’s symphony “From the New World” for German “Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester” and did a remix for “Ornah-Mental” of Dirk Schlömer, former guitar-player of Germany’s famous agit-prop-band “Ton, Steine, Scherben”.
Switching from the ambient sounds of Liquid Meditations Korn now returns to Global Beats with Mind Travels:
This groovy and melodic junction of Oriental, Asian and European music styles expresses a European view on and appreciation of various Eastern music traditions. LIQUID MEDITATIOMS presents and evolves musical ideas from Dubdiver’s albums BOX OF SECRETS and FLOATING BEATS and two new tracks in a more ambient and chill-out style combined with fresh musical elements.
“While I was writing the music for BOX OF SECRETS I realized that a lot of Dubdiver soundscapes unfold something magic when played without all the beats and percussion. On LIQUID MEDITATIONS I wanted them to give complete expression, to have the space to evolve and to present them in an ambient setting.
The deeper I got into the ambient world, the more these tracks emerged their own life” says Korn. The resulting tracks sound like they’d been originally written for ambient music.
The AMBIENT REWORKS are completed by two new tracks:

His Rumi-Vocals and meditative Santoor-Playing were recorded there.

Box Of Secrets

Evolving his combination of chilling Downbeat and Globetronica Dubdiver’s release “Box of Secrets” increases his palette of sounds. This album navigates through an ocean of musical elements from Southern Europe to North Africa over the Middle East to the Far East.
“Walking the streets of Berlin can set me into very different moods, depending on which kind of music I listen to”. Living in the city centre of Berlin – a melting pot of so many different cultures – diverse musical sounds and styles can be heard at every street corner. Often it is only a few steps’ walk from the corner shop playing Turkish music to the Punjabi restaurant, where Bhangra rhythms fill the air. Nevertheless the basis of Dubdiver’s music is not World Music, it is Electronica. Global sounds and rhythms add all kinds of moods to it – playful, seductive, soothing, vital.
“I’ve always wanted to write music, that creates intense moods and working with electronic instruments seems to be a great way to evolve my musical ideas – it gives me an incredible freedom of sounds. And when it comes to rhythm there’s a lot you can do with drums and percussion, you can layer all kinds of rhythms, you can filter drum-fills and send them through delays and create mellow dubby and intense textures.”
Dubdiver composes ambient symphonies one can plunge deeply into as well as he is creating powerful rhythms with dubby bass lines. Still keeping to his trademarks of panoramic filtered delays on levitating pads Dubdiver this time adds more uptempo, clubby grooves. With the albums’ bonus track “Salida del Sol” mix of “Floating on Love” Dubdiver even proves his ability of setting his foot onto the Chill House floor.
Box of Secrets again features a cast of musical collaborators:
Co-conspirator on the mic was Anja Oehming on the floating and intuitive opening track “Box of Secrets”. She also appeared on the debut.
“Prosphorion” features Christiane and her sweet memories of lands afar – just like on the track “Dotted Diary” from the first album.
Arndt Bethke, commonly playing Bach on his guitar, gives a warm Spanish feeling to “La Ninfa”.
Herb-T, MC, producer, DJ and mastermind of the London and Frankfurt based Global Beats act Cosmic Orient praises Love, Peace and Unity on the Dancehall and Ragga inspired song “Golden Treasure”.
Introducing the Greek singer and actress Anatoli Tsampa: with her sweet and blandishing voice she sings a love story from the Greek island Mykonos on “Floating on Love” – a playful melody accompanies her sweet and seductive greek whisper. Her voice also works perfectly with the Chill House version of this song – the “Salida del Sol Mix”.
“A Hundred Colours” might represent Dubdiver himself best possible: a firework of energetic rhythms filled with the sweetest and most seductive Sarangi strings make this Box of Secrets complete.

Floating Beats

With his debut “Floating Beats” Dubdiver was able to establish himself internationally in Global Beats / World Lounge music within only a few months time.
The athmospheric sound combines musical elements of Downbeat, Drum & Bass and Global Beats. His musical journey leads the listener to soft, but still grooving soundscapes. Dancehall and Trip-Hop vibes touch the Orient, breakbeats contest with Sitar and acoustic guitars, electronic sounds breeze around Tabla-beats.
By combining contemporary electronic music with indigenous instruments warm soundpaintings originate. Live-played and programmed sounds complement one another and are being filtered, edited and newly assembled till a new homogenous and organic sound arises.
Corresponding to this idea, Korn was able to transpose other friend musicians contributions into the Dubdiver-sound:
“Shine” was a U.K. No.1 Hit of reggae-act Aswad back in the nineties which they wrote together with Joe Cang, London-based producer and bass-player of Scritti Politti and Galliano. On Floating Beats you’ll find a remix of Joe Cang’s new interpretation.
Singer Anja Oehming graduated in classical singing. With her warm voice she shapes the tracks “Desert Land” and "Eternal Calling".
Sitar-player Mirkoji Nolten learned to play the sitar on his numerous and extensive jouneys to India.

The athmospheric sound combines musical elements of Downbeat, Drum & Bass and Global Beats. His musical journey leads the listener to soft, but still grooving soundscapes. Dancehall and Trip-Hop vibes touch the Orient, breakbeats contest with Sitar and acoustic guitars, electronic sounds breeze around Tabla-beats.
By combining contemporary electronic music with indigenous instruments warm soundpaintings originate. Live-played and programmed sounds complement one another and are being filtered, edited and newly assembled till a new homogenous and organic sound arises.
Corresponding to this idea, Korn was able to transpose other friend musicians contributions into the Dubdiver-sound:
“Shine” was a U.K. No.1 Hit of reggae-act Aswad back in the nineties which they wrote together with Joe Cang, London-based producer and bass-player of Scritti Politti and Galliano. On Floating Beats you’ll find a remix of Joe Cang’s new interpretation.
Singer Anja Oehming graduated in classical singing. With her warm voice she shapes the tracks “Desert Land” and "Eternal Calling".
Sitar-player Mirkoji Nolten learned to play the sitar on his numerous and extensive jouneys to India.

Dubdiver is a Berlin-based music project creating sounds of chill-out, global beats and ambient electronica.
The tracks of drummer, producer and mastermind Stefan Korn and his co-musicians have been featured on almost 300 releases and synched for German TV ZDF series of culture-clips „Global Vision“.“It’s always great to combine various instruments and sounds and to explore, how I can melt them into a new track”, says Stefan Korn, and „writing for Global Vision offered a great way for me to show the visual potential of my music”.
Korn started his musical journey as a drummer: At the age of 4 Korn got his first drum which led him to take drum lessons at the age of six. As a teenager he started touring and later releasing with various bands. Tours from the Baltic Sea to Switzerland lead him from the tiniest club gig to the stage of Berlin Arena Velodrom, followed by several CD releases and accompanied by the co-operation with Uwe Hoffmann (Producer of “Die Ärzte”) and Jean Beauvoir (Crown of Thorns/Little Steven). The organic use of samplers and sequencers in live-presentation aroused his interest in producing electronic music.
One more influence contributed to Dubdiver's sound: Already as a child Korn loved the sound of medieval songs and instruments- this interest was replaced by Rock'n'Roll, but “when the Asian Underground / Global Beats thing came along it musically felt like coming home”.
And finally there's the city of Berlin: “Walking the streets of Berlin can set me into very different moods, depending on which kind of music I listen to”. Living in the city centre of Berlin – a melting pot of so many different cultures – diverse musical sounds and styles can be heard at every street corner. Often it is only a few steps’ walk from the corner shop playing Turkish music to the Punjabi restaurant, where Bhangra rhythms fill the air. Nevertheless the basis of Dubdiver’s music is not World Music, it is electronics. Global sounds and rhythms add all kinds of moods to it – playful, seductive, soothing, vital.
So by combining electronic music with indigenous instruments warm soundpaintings originate. Live-played and programmed sounds complement one another and are being filtered, edited and newly assembled till a new homogenous and organic sound arises.
“I’ve always wanted to write music, that creates intense moods and working with electronic instruments seems to be a great way to evolve my musical ideas – it gives me an incredible freedom of sounds. And when it comes to rhythm there’s a lot you can do with drums and percussion, you can layer all kinds of rhythms, you can filter drum-fills and send them through delays and create mellow dubby and intense textures”.
Dubdiver is an open studio-project: Corresponding to the idea to create an addition of live-played and programmed parts of music, Stefan Korn was able to inspire other friends and musicians to work with him on the transposition of the DubDiver sound. Co-conspirators so far have been:
